The Family Dentist

Hilary could relate to the families she saw at her dental practice who struggled to get their children to brush their teeth.  A mum of two young children, the nightly brushing battle was a reality in her life too, even if she was a dentist!  Not only that, but her heart broke to see parents feel like they were failing their kids.

"I knew that if I couldn't get it right with my own kids, something was very wrong with the traditional approach." 

After battling with her toddler to try to get him to brush his teeth, she watched in fascination as he happily chewed on a finger puppet.

This was her light bulb moment!

Her goal was to make the tooth-brushing ritual a fun habit from the very beginning using finer puppets.

The Child Psychologist

When Hilary wanted to make a positive change to the way we do brushing, she knew exactly who to call.  Colleen had developed a playful approach to help her own children love brushing their teeth.  She drew on her experience as both a mum and child developmental expert to shape the theory and personality of the Brushies.  

Colleen has dedicated her life to helping parents and families thrive.  A clinical psychologist, guest lecturer and mum to three little ones, she's passionate about giving families the tools they need to overcome life's obstacles.

Together they set about to turn the children's dental industry upside down.  They created the world's first finger-puppet toothbrush - the Brushie. This simple yet revolutionary idea has completely transformed how families approach brushing.
